Digital Transfer

Detailed, full-colour branding transferred onto suitable products for a vibrant and versatile finish.

What is Digital Transfer?

Digital Transfer is a branding method where artwork is digitally produced onto a transfer material and then applied to the product using heat and pressure.

It is particularly useful for detailed, multi-colour artwork and designs that would be difficult to reproduce using traditional spot-colour printing methods.

Digital Transfer is commonly suited to compatible textile and fabric-based products where a detailed full-colour result is required.

How Digital Transfer Works

Digital artwork is prepared for the available branding area before being produced onto a specialised transfer material. Heat and pressure are then used to apply the design to the product.

  1. 1

    1 — Artwork prepared

The artwork is prepared at the correct size and resolution for the available branding area.

  2. 2

    2 — Transfer produced

The design is digitally produced onto the appropriate transfer material.

  3. 3

    3 — Product positioned

The transfer is carefully positioned onto the required branding area.

  4. 4

    4 — Transfer applied

Heat and pressure are used to transfer the design onto the product.

Best for

  • Full-colour artwork — Well suited to logos and graphics containing multiple colours.
  • Fine detail — Digital production allows more detailed artwork to be reproduced than many traditional spot-colour methods.
  • Gradients & complex graphics — Suitable for artwork containing tonal changes, gradients and more complex visual elements.
  • Suitable textiles — A useful option for compatible bags, apparel and other fabric-based promotional products.

Benefits

  • Full-colour capability — Allows colourful and visually detailed designs to be reproduced.
  • Detailed reproduction — Suitable for artwork containing finer elements and more complex graphics.
  • Colour flexibility — Artwork is not restricted in the same way as traditional methods that require separate screens for individual colours.
  • Versatile application — Available across a range of compatible textile and fabric products.

Things to Consider

  • Digital Transfer is not suitable for every material or product.
  • The finished result can vary depending on the fabric, surface, transfer type and product construction.
  • Artwork quality is important, particularly where fine detail is required.
  • The available branding area varies between products.
  • Always refer to the confirmed Digital Transfer branding options shown for the individual product.

Preparing Artwork for Digital Transfer

High-quality artwork will help achieve the best result.

Vector artwork is preferred for logos and graphic elements, while suitable high-resolution raster artwork may be used for detailed or photographic designs where supported.

Artwork should be supplied at the correct proportions and sufficient resolution for the available branding area.
